Why WooCommerce is the peptide merchant's default
WooCommerce runs on your own WordPress install, which means you own the stack and you pick the payment gateway. No third-party platform AUP sits between you and your checkout, unlike Shopify, which routes everything through its own payment infrastructure by default. For high-risk verticals like peptides, that control matters.
The catch: Stripe's WooCommerce plugin doesn't help you because the Stripe account behind it still prohibits peptides. Same with Square, same with PayPal's WooCommerce integration. You need a gateway whose acquiring bank explicitly writes peptide business.

Installation
- Get approved (1–2 weeks from intake). On approval, we send API keys.
- In WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload. Upload the Holistic Payments plugin ZIP we send.
- Activate. Navigate to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments.
- Enable the Holistic Payments gateway, paste your API keys.
- Run a $1 test transaction on a live card. Confirm settlement to your bank within 48 hours.
- Turn off your previous gateway (if any) and you're live.
Running multiple gateways
WooCommerce supports multiple payment gateways simultaneously. You can offer Holistic Payments for peptide SKUs, PayPal for non-peptide merch, and crypto through a third plugin, all visible at checkout. Some peptide merchants use this to segment risk: high-velocity peptide orders go through the U.S. bank, while apparel and swag route through a lower-cost low-risk gateway.
FAQ
Does the plugin work with WooCommerce Subscriptions?
Basic integration works, the plugin registers as a valid gateway and subscriptions can bill through it. Native tokenized card subscriptions are on our roadmap; today we recommend ACH for recurring peptide orders because it supports saved bank data and is cheaper per transaction.
Is the plugin free?
Yes. The plugin itself is free for approved merchants. You pay the per-transaction processing rate per our fee schedule, no monthly fees, no setup fees, no termination fees.
Will it break my checkout if I'm already running another gateway?
No. Both gateways can coexist. You enable Holistic Payments, then choose whether to disable your old gateway or leave it active as a secondary option. Most merchants run both for a few weeks to verify stability before switching fully.
Does it support WooCommerce's native wallet/stored payment features?
Partially. ACH accounts can be saved to the WooCommerce customer record and used for one-click reorder. Tokenized card-on-file is on the roadmap.
